Every year we invite audiences to engage in person with filmmakers and actors. Guests confirmed so far attending this years festival include:

Timestalker
Alice Lowe comes to Cheltenham with her latest film, Timestalker, which she wrote,  directed and stars in.  Highly praised by the critics, scoring 100% on Rotten Tomatoes,  the film is described as a comedy,  drama, fantasy, romance – something for everyone.

Reawakening
We welcome Reawakening Director, Virginia Gilbert. Virginia is a BAFTA-nominated, award winning writer and director in film and television. She was named as a “Star of Tomorrow” by Screen International. Reawakening is her second feature film.

The Outrun
German director/ screenwriter, Nora Fingscheid gained critical acclaim for her film System Crasher which screened at Cheltenham International Film Festival in 2019. She moved on to direct Sandra Bullock in The Unforgivable and comes to the film festival this year with her latest feature, The Outrun starring Saiorse Ronen. She is joined by co-writer Amy Liptrot on whose book the film is based.

Girls Will Be Girls
We are delighted to be joined by Indian actor Preeti Panigrahi who stars in the 2024 film Girls Will Be Girls. Preeti received the Special Jury Award for Acting at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival for her performance as a high school student navigating the complexities of adolescence and society expectations.

A Hard Day’s Night
Pattie Boyd, model and photographer, was a1960s icon, who inspired songs by George Harrison and Eric Clapton, both of whom she married, including “Something” and “Wonderful Tonight”. Pattie joins us after the screening of A Hard Day’s Night to share insights from her New York Times Bestseller about life during Beatlemania and Eric Clapton.

Leonard Cohen: Bird On A Wire
We are joined by legendary director, Tony Palmer, who will share the story behind the troubled film, which Leonard Cohen said was “too confrontational”. Tony will also talk about how the film was lost for decades, then found and restored by the director, with a theatrical release in 2017 to acclaim.

Arthur’s Whisky brings together three very different stars in their own right. So how did they bond… by going out to dinner and finding a common sense of humour. Along with Director, Stephen Cookson, who was at the same dinner we find out how these gals got along, following the screening of Arthur’s Whisky, with Patricia Hodge and Lulu in person.

Holst: In The Bleak Midwinter
Legendary, award-winning director, Tony Palmer, returns to Cheltenham with his fascinating film on Gustav Holst to mark the 150 th anniversary of his birth. The film covers the composer’s life which ended too early; a man who taught himself Sanskrit, studied astrology and composed one of the best-known works by an English composer, The Planets; enjoyed through the decades by the many.
