THE FESTIVAL IS DELIGHTED AND PROUD TO PRESENT TWO VERY SPECIAL EVENTS

STEVEN FREARS IN TRIBUTE

We shall pay tribute to Stephen Frears, one of Britain’s great directors, to mark 50 years since the release of his first feature film, Gumshoe (1971), starring Albert Finney.  The Festival plans to organise an “In Conversation” with Stephen along with the screening of Gumshoe and one other early Stephen Frears film, leaving it to the director, himself, to decide.

FILM FESTIVAL ANNUAL LECTURE

We are delighted to welcome the BAFTA award winning, British-Ghanaian director, Amma Asante, who will deliver the first annual film festival lecture. Amma’s subject will be diversity in the film industry. Her lecture will speak of the challenges she faced as a woman - a black woman - who emerged as a celebrated, respected film and television director.
