Golden Harvest

Sometimes our trees know best…

Kindly sponsored by: Istanbul Kitchen

Istanbul Kitchen is delighted to serve a complimentary slice of chocolate and olive oil cake from the recipe provided by the producer of the film The Golden Harvest's grandmother to all dining customers during the month of September.  (Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham.)

In this 6,000-year old love story, filmmaker Alia Yunis tries to understand the profound, often troubled, relationship between olive oil and the people of the Mediterranean, including her own father. Her journey takes her to unexpected places as an increasingly diverse cast of characters get involved in unravelling this tale.

It is a complicated romance — sometimes funny, sometimes tragic — that is constantly evolving in a region that includes some of the poorest and most conflicted areas of Europe and the Middle East.

SPECIAL GUESTS: We welcome producer / editor of Golden Harvest  Jaime Estrada-Torres. Jamie has worked on numerous film and TV projects including Batman (1989), Band of Brothers, Midhunters and Biggie and Tupac. An instructor and the London Film School, Jaime has given numerous workshops on non-linear editing for documentaries and feature films.

“THE DOCUMENTARIAN HAS A LIGHT TOUCH, BLENDING SERIOUS TOPICS, SUCH AS THE WAY THAT YOUNG PEOPLE NO LONGER WANT TO GO INTO THE TRADITIONAL INDUSTRIES OF THEIR PARENTS OR THE PUSH AND PULL BETWEEN REGULAR AND ORGANIC FARMING WITH LIGHTER WEIGHT RECIPES AND OBSERVATIONS”
