A House On Fire

UK Premiere

Smouldering resentments flare into blazing rows at a dysfunctional family reunion

Montse is eagerly anticipating the weekend she will spend with her entire family at her idyllic home on the Costa Brava. Despite her long-divorced status, her ex’s new partner, and her grown children’s busy lives, she is determined to make this reunion perfect. Her excitement is so intense that she’s willing to go to great lengths to ensure everything goes smoothly, even if it means overlooking significant personal matters to achieve her ideal family gathering.

In this entertaining Catalan take on the dysfunctional family, a talented ensemble tear into the hilarious rapid-fire dialogue with relish, as resentments, delusions and hidden agendas emerge from their incessant bickering.  Delving into the shadows within us all, including themes of maternal love and family dynamics, this fast-paced dramady builds towards a suitably cathartic ending.

“A DISSECTION OF MODERN DYNAMICS IN WHICH LAUGHTER AND SELF-CRITICSM ARE PERFECTLY COMBINED IN AN IMPECCABLE EXERCISE OF CONTEMPORARY VAUDEVILLE”
