The Crime Is Mine

Preview

François Ozon returns with a frothy crime caper set in 1930s art deco Paris

Madeline, a young, ambitious and completely talentless actress, is accused of murdering a sleazy producer. Alongside her best friend Pauline, an aspiring lawyer, she sets out to clear her name while navigating the chaos of the French justice system.

Returning to the ensemble comedy format of 8 Women, Ozon has assembled a who’s who of French thespians, including Isabelle Huppert as a fading silent movie star and a deliciously pompous Fabine Luchini as a put upon judge. Lavish production design and costumes provide a gorgeous art deco background for Ozon to play homage to 1930’s screwball comedies in a playful, sharp witted and suspenseful satire of sexual politics and societal norms.
