CIFF: Short Films Selection, 2025

Human interest

We are nearing the end of our short film selection for this year’s strand, Human Interest. Each year, submissions seem to reveal a natural theme — and in 2025 we’ve received a rich cross-section of stories, all reflecting the human experience in its many forms. Some are funny, some tragic, some uplifting — and one, deadly. But every film leaves us with something to reflect on, and to enjoy.

One early highlight, featured on our Home Page, is Talking Rubbish by British director Ian Donnelly — a witty short that leaves you smiling and laughing in equal measure.

The Human Interest shorts programme is currently scheduled for 30 September at 5:00pm — but keep an eye out, as timings may be subject to change.
