Missing, Presumed: Showing #1
Emerging Filmmakers
A middle-class couple go on a killing spree in this hilarious combination of
Midsomer Murders and Sightseers
Tod and Jenny Slaughter are in a bit of a predicament. Todd has haphazardly killed the gas man, and in order to cover it up, the couple have found it necessary to kill again. And then again… How inconvenient! A blind detective is sent to their sleepy village to investigate this sudden spate of gruesome murders.
Filmed in Eastcombe, this micro budget first feature was made with the support of the University of Gloucestershire. Channelling the same mix of wry humour and bloody violence and Pemberton and Shearsmith and early Ben Wheatley, filmmaker Edward Woolford demonstrates a tremendous talent for dark humour and would seem to have a glowing career as comedy writer ahead of him. In the lead roles, Paul Cooper and Deirdre Forrest do a great job in deadpanning their way through the carnage while discussing the mundanities of everyday life. Do the bins go out tonight?
