LAST DANCE

75 year old Germain finds a new focus in life when he joins a contemporary dance group.

75-year-old Germain (Francois Berleand) has a relaxed lifestyle many of us would envy.  That is until the day his wife dies very unexpectedly.  This sudden change to life gives Germain a new focus.  Firstly, to avoid all the family and neighbours who are overwhelming him with support and secondly, to take his wife’s place in a contemporary dance group without his relatives knowing.

Last Dance deals with the powerful subject of bereavement empathetically, yet with a wry sense of humour, which ultimately makes for an uplifting experience.  No wonder it won the Best Film at the Locarno International Film Festival.

“Delphine Lehericey directs her witty insightful script with great confidence and dexterity and the performances all round are really spot on. There are some laughs to be had too in this deadpan tongue-in-cheek story”
